Don’t forget to put a # symbol when you type the room name

I was not tested on animals by or for Asda.April 22, 2004 at 10:08 pm #3391I’ve found a chat site that offers free bannerless chat sites for pretty much any computer whether it has java or not, but unfortunately it fills the whols screen and covers any windows you’ve already opened (and it can’t be moved either)
It’s at http://www.dialogoo.com

I was not tested on animals by or for Asda.April 18, 2004 at 7:46 pm #3379Oh and if you’re in a chat room with other people, just wait a while to see what the conversation’s about, then either join in with the conversation (unlike real life, this is usually O.K.) or say “hi, anyone want to chat to a 16/f/uk” (or whatever your age sex and location is – but don’t give out any other details, not even your street name or school/college/university)

I was not tested on animals by or for Asda.April 18, 2004 at 7:17 pm #3376Nah it’s not stupid at all. If you just want use a chat room (instead of creating your own), these are chat sites I know of: http://www.zoneteenchat.com, http://www.buzzchat.com – no sign-up is needed for any of these. Another is http://www.talkcity.com (quick registration required – you can also provide a fake e-mail address and it will still let you register)
If you want to create your own chat room, first you need a website. To create a website, go to http://www.yahoo.com, click “geocities” (under the “connect” heading), and sign up for a website (choose pagebuilder, NOT pagewizard). Then launch pagebuilder.
Then create a chat script by going to the “Create Chat Room” section of this website. Once you’ve chosen your script, follow these steps on geocities pagebuilder:
1. Click “add ons”
2. Click “forms and scripts”
3. Click “HTML code.
4. Paste the chat script (the script you got from this website) into the HTML code box (you can leave the description field blank).
5. Click “save” and save the page as “index”.
That’s it! You now have a chat room! Using the commands on this website, you can then control the room – kick people out, mute them, etc.

I was not tested on animals by or for Asda.April 11, 2004 at 5:57 am #3330Well the kill command works but it takes a whole minute to change the nickname – I’ve put a warning about people called PJ or anything similar who haven’t got an @ next to their name not being me, but some people might not read it and 1 minute is enough time to extract private information from someone who thinks they are talking to me – is there anyway I can get it to change a person’s nickname in 7 seconds (that’s enough time for me to type /msg identify [pass])?
I was not tested on animals by or for Asda.April 11, 2004 at 5:44 am #3329I think free should be at least 20 users – there’s a HTML chat room called buzzchat.com that goes really slowly (well it used to be HTML anyway – they’ve updated it now) that almost always had 20 people in it – bare in mind it goes really slow so isn’t one of the most popular chat rooms. 10 people is hardly anything and will probably draw people away from the chat site.
