Hey Gavin,
Did you register your name and the room? IF you want to be in FULL controll of your room, you will need to do that.
Go into chat with your desired chat name and type
/nickserv REGISTER <password> <email>
Then type in /IDENTIFY password
Now you will be able to register your room to do that type
/chanserv REGISTER <#room> <password> <description>
