ParticipantHi, sorry to bother you again – thou my chat room does not appear to be workin properly. Only some people can enter, and others cannot. I thought it was to do with their internet connection type, thou some of the people who cant get in have already been in b4. Whats up with that? How do i solve this problem? Also what does locking a rooms mode do, and securing the moderator? How can i set up no cursing – i use a bot or something? And what is the code to register my friends? Sorry for bothering u again. Thanks, uve been great help

ParticipantHey, I figured out y people couldnt get in, they werent clicking the ‘trust source’ icon. Does that appear for every1? Can i rid of it, or is that the computer just making the user aware of his/her action and i can’t take it away?
Also, I have tried numerous times to make my registered friend host. THough the host sign appears then disappears. I even tried turning off the bot i think what it was – it allowed me then to change her level-i put her on all of them from 1-7 successfully, then tried making her host… But it still failed to work. What am i doing wrong?

ParticipantHey!
That’s a pretty loaded question you’ve got there.
1. I’ve experienced similar problems where some people
simply cannot access the chat room. Some solutions that
have solved this problem for me in the past…
a. Have them delete their cookies and temporary internet
files, reboot their computer, and then try getting in
again.
b. Have them un-install their Java software and re-
install the latest Java software from http://www.java.com
c. Have them upgrade their internet software (Ex: To
Internet Explorer 6.0)
See if those trouble shooting tips help.
2. Securing the rooms mode (as far as I understand it)
means that no unauthorized person can change any
settings in your room
3. Securing the moderator means that you or someone you
authorize can take control of the room, giving them the
ability to change the topic, voice or devoice people,
and kick or kick ban people.
You do this by first identifying the registered nick
with…
/identify YOURPASSWORDHERE
Then typing…
/chanserv op
If the nick is an authorized nick, it will now appear
with an @ in front of its name, meaning it’s the
moderator of the room.
4. As far as setting up no cursing…first add a bot to
your room.
Do this using the command:
/botserv ASSIGN NAMEOFYOURCHANNELHERE NAMEOFBOTHERE
To get a list of available bots, use the command:
/botserv botlist
Once you’ve added the bot to your room, add the bad
words to your bad word list. To do this, use the
command:
/botserv badwords NAMEOFYOURCHANNELHERE add BADWORDHERE
Repeat the same command for each bad word you would like
to add to your room.
5. To register a nickname, first sign in using that
nickname, then type in the command:
/nickserv register PASSWORDHERE EMAILHERE
I hope all of this helped! I’m fairly new to all this, so anyone else on here, feel free to correct anything above that’s wrong…just trying to help.
Hope it all works out! Pax!

Locking room modes is to lock all the settings of the room so you or someone else can’t change them. So if you made your room private, you aren’t able to make it unprivate anymore until you turn of modelock!
Securing the moderator is that someone can’t be given @ by hand. The @status is protected and can’t be given with the +O key. You can set that if to make your chatroom safe, so for example no one of your mod-team can give their friends @ status without your permission. If you want to make your friends moderator, then you have to add them to the AOP list.
And if you don’t want any cursing, you have to make a badwordslist, and set kick on badwords with the bot on. So the people who curs, automatically been kicked or warned. If you don’t know how to, search the forum to find information about it

And what is the code to register my friends?
There is no ‘code’ to register your friends. They have to register their nickname with nickserv. They do that with:
/ns register nickname emailadress

Yes, everyone gets that and if they don’t accept it, they aren’t able to log in. You can’t take is away, or they have to connect with mIRC, then you don’t get the trust popup!

If you added some of your friends to the aop list, and they have operator status. You don’t have to give them @’s anymore. You also CAN’T because of the ‘secure moderator’ option!
But if they have the status they only have to type:
/cs op And the @ will appear before their names

ParticipantIt’s very nice of you to help, but only help when you are sure you are giving the right information to a client.
This:
Quote:
Is all (a,b,c) not needed. a = only needed when you didn’t accept the trust popup.
b = you only have to install the new version, it automatically updates. So first removing isn’t needed
c = Internet explorer doens’t have to be upgraded

3. Securing the moderator means that you or someone you
authorize can take control of the room, giving them the
ability to change the topic, voice or devoice people,
and kick or kick ban people.
That was a misunderstanding from you. See my explaining above about what securing a moderator is.
