I have been doing alot of reading lately. Mostly about other dot com’s going belly up. Why is this happening? I think mostly because “free” doesn’t pay the bills. I started this site thinking that banner advertisements could pay for it’s operational costs. I wasn’t even thinking I myself may be payed for anything… LoL just wanted it to carry it’s self. The last 3rd party banner company I used did not impress me much. But as such it was one of only 2 that accepted this site for advertising on. Many, and I do mean many, declined with the reason of “we have enough of that demographic” for advertising. I’m happy to say that 2 of the companies that turned me down are out of business at this time… lol I look at companies such as NBCi.com, who has informed it’s members to look for other sources of “free” webhosting. iVillage.com has cut it’s workforce by 50% and several of their executives make nearly $500,000 a year under a company that isn’t making money??? How long can the chat on iVillage last? Am I completely nuts thinking that I can make “free” chat pay for it’s self? Probably… but only time will tell. LoL
