Is there a way for webtv users to access the chattersonline chat rooms? If so what information do they need for their webtv to work for chat?
December 20, 2002 at 5:01 pm #1741As far as I know it was working. I was fixing on things a while back. There are still some issues to be addressed but they should be able to enter. What version WebTV are they using?
Nothing rhymes with Cindy Crawford after 9 coronas...December 20, 2002 at 9:10 pm #1742Thanks Dave, I’ll have to check and find out what version of webtv they are using and will get back to you..
December 24, 2002 at 11:44 pm #1753Dave, I’m not sure if this helps, but the web tv users I have heard back from refer to the basic web tv or web tv plus.. I know nothing about web tv so I have no idea where they would check for a version.. Does this help? Could you send me the server and port they could try to see if they can access the chat room?.. Thanks for your help…
December 25, 2002 at 2:01 pm #1754I just tried using my webtv emulator but microsoft won’t let me connect to a chat room with it. It seemed to work the last time I used it and the group I was helping said that webtv was working for them. I have an older version of the emulator that was able to connect to chat rooms without getting blocked by microsoft. I have to look for it though as it’s backed up on cd somewhere. (I really should lable them things…) Then I can test the chat rooms again and see what may have gone wrong.
For now they can try IP address 206.161.127.36 and port 6669 while I figure out what has changed. It would not surprise me one bit if microsoft was trying to keep webtv chatters on their own network.
