I have tried to avoid troubling everyone by first reading just about everything about registration I can find here but, whilst I might now be able to guess at the answers to a few of these questions (& am certainly an expert on ‘HOW’ to register), as a newbie to the whole chatting concept, I would appreciate some ‘definitive answers’ on the ‘why’ rather than ‘how’.

First, I have set up a chatroom just for my family to communicate easily (worked perfectly first time…thanks for the easy, clear instructions). I have even posted it on a url NOT ‘linked to’ through my web-site just so only the family (who know the url) can find it (unless, obviously, someone is determined to) so I have no need for it to be publicly available. Under these circumstances;

Why register…any advantages?

Who am I registering with…where are ‘they’…what are they?

Does registering make my chatroom more likely to be found or does it make no difference (since it seems lists are now longer available)?

What are ‘paid for’ chatrooms (apart from the obvious!) & how do they differ…any major advantages for me?

Anything else (on registration generally) you think I should know…that I’m not asking because I don’t know!!??

Sorry this is so long but I would’ve thought there surely must be many new chatters that might want these questions answered…although the evidence suggests I may be wrong!
