ParticipantI have set up a basic chatroom that works for several chatters. However, one chatter (using IE 6.0) does not get the Java Chat/Enter your nickname box displayed. They do get the text I have added to the page. Is there some setting in internet advanced options that could be causing the problem?

ParticipantI have now looked at the HTML source code for the affected user and find that the entire Chattersonline code is missing. Only the opening and closing comment remain. I had the user disable her pop-up stopper and firewall software to no avail.

ParticipantWell on my computer under tools/internet options/advanced. I have all the Microsoft VM boxes clicked on theres like 3 of them for me. Try that out and then click apply then ok and all that stuff then restart the computer and when you come back try it out on the website.
Whats your chat room maybe i can try it since i have those options clicked on.

ParticipantThanks for trying to help. I had the Java logging and JIT compiler on and I turned them off (and rebooted) to see if I could create the problem on my PC. Works even with all 3 Java’s turned off. Can’t give you the URL since this is a chat room for a private medical support group.

March 17, 2003 at 12:36 am #1910It’s hard to say what may be going on here. One possible solution would be to download Mozilla and see if that works. Mozilla use Sun Microsystem’s java plugin which can be downloaded from sun.com and used with IE also. Microsoft does not offer their java virtual machine for download anymore after being sued by Sun for doing so.
If they have some sort of ad blocker software running they may need to add chattersonline.com to their exemption list. This may or may not be the case or solution but worth a try.
Let me know how it goes.
