Sorry if I appear a little dim here but Java is not my strong point. When I get an error message in front page relating to Jave, it generally gives a line and characture number, I would assume that these numbers are reported to assist the writer to locate the eror. However these number never seem to correspond with the actual code for example you may recieve an error message reporting that Line 20 characture 8 is causing a problem, but when you go attempt to find that location it is perhaps located in a blank space. Can anyone tell me how to use the reported information correctly.

I myself have never actually figured out why the information never matches in regards to line numbers. Usually though the problem stems from a missing quote or closing bracket. Sometimes strings with white spaces should have been substituted with underscores. These are typical errors that can happen when creating or pasting java chat code to your pages.
