Sometimes when I join my chat room I am moderator, and sometimes I’m not. Do I have to join the room with my username that I used to make the chat room to be moderator or something? I don’t get it.
You need to register the room with chanserv, after you have registered your nickname with nickserv. Otherwise the first person in the room becomes a moderator. Go over the “Chat Room FAQ” board and the “Epona Services” board.
Most all of these services will be changing before the year is up. I got a ton of things left but am getting close to some major overhauls on the site and the database. But for now it’s a good idea to read up on the services.

Alright, thanks Dave! I registered my name and the chat room and all that good stuff. So do I have to use the line /chanserv set #RoomName secureops on for the moderator thing to work, or just to turn moderator mode on?
Unless you only want users with a + or an @ next to their nicknames to be able to speak I wouldn’t set the room +m. What I think you want is to gain @’s (moderator/room operator) status to control your room. If so then you must idenfity to nickserv using:
/nickserv identify YourPasswordHere
then type:
/chanserv op
You should now have an @ next to your name and can control your room.
