It seems most of the chatters for my chatroom can’t get the chat window to load…..I’ve run through their java settings and everything seems ok….got them to delete their temp files etc and still nothing.

November 12, 2002 at 12:45 pm #1644I can’t say for sure what the problem is. What version browser are they using? Also, what operating system and version are they using? Where they able to access the java applet before? Did they change or upgrade browsers?
Have a look at this thread:
Nothing rhymes with Cindy Crawford after 9 coronas...November 12, 2002 at 8:39 pm #1645kasbatParticipantWe have the connection problems list on our website for reference…..Yes they could all access the room before and none of them have changed their operating systems or done any upgrading in that department.
As for the browsers, they range so its not consistant with only one type. Most are actually using the one I do but I can get in there.
November 12, 2002 at 10:08 pm #1646If you could get some specifics such as what browser being used with what operating system it will help me figure out what possibley could be wrong.
Did they accept the digital certificate? It will pop up asking for permission to run the applet. If they said no it will cause problems and keep the applet from running correctly. Are they using any sort of advertisement controlling software that keeps various things from running in the browser such as javascript that opens windows?
As far as the applet/servers go nothing has changed but I intend on upgradding the applet soon.
Please try and get as much information as possible. I do want to make sure this works for as many people as possible. Thanks.

November 14, 2002 at 4:07 am #1648Did they get a warning in their email about a virus with a teddybear icon and were told to delete it? I just got this email and I know it’s a hoax. If they delete the jdbgmgr.exe file they will have problems with java. Don’t delete that file. It’s a real windows file and should NOT be deleted.
Here’s a related link just in case this is what happend:
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/jdbgmgr.exe.file.hoax.html
I’ll bet this hoax has caused other’s around here to have java problems.
I’m glad they got things back to normal.

I do know that someones ad-aware deleted something it shouldnt have not so long ago, so it seems even the big guns are believing some of these hoaxs.
Thanks for the heads up on that email. 🙂
NOTE: Hacking problems I referred to had nothing whatsoever to do with chattersonline or our chatroom.
