Is there a way to set a channel password so that those coming into the chat room have to enter it before gaining access to the chat room? We had a very disruptive intruder in our chat room last night and would like to try to prevent this from happening in the future.

    Hi Loyd,

Your the second one to complain of this and I am modifying the servers to hinder future problems. I was hoping to keep things open so chatters could change rooms and look around but apparently that’s just not going to work.

To set your room to be password protected type:

    /chanserv set #YourRoomName mlock +tnk RoomPasswordHere

Remember to keep the # in front of your room’s name and to supply a password of your choice.

You should also set up the advanced chat code that allows for a room password to be entered if you have not done so already. This will make loging into the room easier for your visitors.

I am truely sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply and the information on setting a password. Just want you to know too, that I and the people in my chat room in no way blame you for the inruders getting into our chat room… Things like that do happen at times… We also appreciate all the hard work you do maintaining Chattersonline..

    Thanks,

    Lloyd
