I keep getting a weird message saying

    ##### Unregistered Copy, Evaluation only

#####Please ask webmaster to register it

neither the webmaster nor I have any idea what it refers to. I’m using safari as a web browser and I seem to be the only one who gets the message. It appears after I type a message in the main chat.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

What browser and operating system are you using?

I have noticed some problems with Firebird and Sun’s latest java plugin that have caused this. It worked fine on IE though.

Also, where is your chat page? I’ll take a look at the code and see what may be wrong as well.

Never mind.. I see your using Safari. This is a tough one for me to answer since I don’t have a mac. I have just updated the applet to 2.7 so it’s as current as it can be. There is a 2.7.2 beta version available that I’ll look at. Perhaps this error has been fixed in that.

I have problems using Konqueor/java on SuSE 9.0 and Safari is based on Konqueror I believe so this may be a common issue? Actually on SuSE it doesn’t ever connect to the servers. (and it doesn’t ask for permission to run when used the first time which is bad)

I suggest, for the time being, that you try Mozilla 1.5 and see if that works for you. I really wish I had a Mac so I could answer these questions better.

Just a few more thoughts. Clear your cache/temporary internet files. Not sure what the steps are for safari though. Then if you have both the login box and the ‘click to chat’ link on your page give the link a try. I have been testing in firebird and it seems to work sometimes and not others. Also, try creating/using a login that loads into the same page. This seems to work more often in firebird than the other routes. I am going to work on a new login script this weekend. I *think* I know a way around the current problem. It isn’t a fix though. Just an avoidance.

I have tested Mozilla Firebird over and over and it still has the same problem. I don’t think it’s so much the browser as it is the java plugin. I’m using the latest, 1.4.2.02, to no avail. The text link ‘click to chat’ is working as is the login that loads into the same page. The other login that opens a popup window, does not work though. I will see if I can create a way around it. I’m all done testing… lol just going in circles.

I’ve tried emptying the catch, but it didn’t work. I also tried using IE for mac and I get the same message. Does that mean it must be something with my OS? Should I try resetting safari? If you want to look at it the chat is located here . Thanks for the help.

It may be the something to do with your java virtual machine on a mac. I do have a solution that I am working on but it wont be ready until wednesday or so. You may wish to try Mozilla 1.5 which I believe will require you to use an updated java plugin from Sun. I really need to get me a mac of some sort… lol

I’ll try and hurry up and get this resolved. I just wonder if any other mac users are having the same problems?

I haven’t had much time lately. I think I know the way to fix this but haven’t been able to code it and check it out.

Does using the ‘direct link’ for the chat code work? The problem seems to be some sort of sand box barrier for the other login routes.

I’ll hopefully have some time this weekend to get back to this. I also have another java applet I intend on using that should cure this problem as well. But, I’ll need to do even more coding to get it ready to use.

any luck on solving this? I still get the message. I’m not quite sure what you mean by direct link?
