when ever I try to host someone they become dehosted and this message comes up
***Mode change “-ahog nick nick nick nick ” on channel #channel by Chanserv
Is this your channel?
Are you Oped in the channel?
Is the person registered and /identified in the channel?
In order to host/op someone, they also need to have a registered nick name and be identified just like the owner of the channel does.
~~~Misty~~~{@ Im the little one...and mysterious oneApril 11, 2004 at 6:31 am #3331Syntax: /nickserv SET KILL (ON | QUICK | IMMED | OFF)
Turns the automatic protection option for your nick on or off. With protection on, if another user tries to take your nick, they will be given one minute to change to another nick, after which NickServ will forcibly change their nick.
If you select QUICK, the user will be given only 20 seconds to change nicks instead of the usual 60. If you select IMMED, user’s nick will be changed immediately without being warned first or given a chance to change their nick; please do not use this option unless necessary. Also, your network’s administrators may have disabled this option.
or
Syntax: /nickserv SET SECURE (ON | OFF)
Turns NickServ’s security features on or off for your nick. With SECURE set, you must enter your password before you will be recognized as the owner of the nick, regardless of whether your address is on the access list. However, if you are on the access list, NickServ will not auto-kill you regardless of the setting of the KILL option.
OK…now that I know what each of the options means…how do I get them to work!?!
A couple of problems that I have encountered….
I can kick a person out, but when I highlight their name and select Kick Ban, I get “%NoSuchChannel”
Also…I added my ‘bad words’ list but tried testing out whether it would kick me off and it didn’t. Why did this not work for me!?!
Please help!
Hmm..Dave will have to help you with the kick/ban. Since everything is being redone some how some of the different buttons and options might have gotten disabled. I will look into that.
The Bad Words will not work you. Since you made the channel and such, it just won’t. Try having someone else log on with a diffeent ISP then you and such. Then tell them to use some of the swear words. If this doesn’t work, you know to come back
~~~Misty~~~{@ Im the little one...and mysterious oneApril 7, 2004 at 1:57 am #3310You made sure it registered your nickname and you are identified with the right nick and password?
What channel are you trying to register?
~~~Misty~~~{@ Im the little one...and mysterious oneApril 6, 2004 at 3:43 am #3305You need to register your nick and then /identify yourself
/nickserv REGISTER password
/identify password
Now try registering the channel/room
OK…a few questions that should be easy for all you experts…
1. What is the difference between kick and kick ban?
2. Can anyone clearly explain what voice is?
3. What is the difference between Op and Moderate?
4. And finally…what do the invite and secret options do?
I’ve been able to figure out the rest, and I’ve searched through the forums but can’t find a list of explanations of what each of these commands do. If it is somewhere, and I have simply overlooked it, I apoligize, but if anyone can point me in the right direction or simply explain what each of these mean, I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thanks again too all of you for all of your help! Pax! God Bless!
1. What is the difference between kick and kick ban?
Kick means the person if forced to leave the room but can come back. KickBan is when the person if forced to leave the room but can not re-enter the room until about 24 hours later or when they are removed from the ban list.
2. Can anyone clearly explain what voice is?
Voice is just like gagging or the voice you have in life. Voice is when you are able to type and send, and everyone in the room can see it. When you devoice someone, what ever they type and enter is not seen in the whole room. It is like mutings an annoying person or when you are having an important meeting and only want one person to type/speak at a time.
3. What is the difference between Op and Moderate?
From what I know, Operators and Moderates are the same thing. They can be universal unless in your own room you change it. You could make it so Moderators only watch the room to make sure nothing wrong goes on and can voice/devoice people. Your operator could have the higher level with more responcibility. It is all the same.
4. And finally…what do the invite and secret options do?
Invite means that you can invite someone from another room or someone is just floating around on the server into your room. Secret means that your room is not known to anyone, other then the people you tell.
Why evryone who have entered to my chatroom have an admin options ??!! P.S. I have registred room and nickname.
You do not use the same name as you registed here. Once you are in your chatroom try registering your own name and then registering your room.
Type /nickserv register urpassword uremail
/identify password
type: /chanserv register #channel password description
When I want to log in to my chat I write my password but when I’m logging in I’ve got a massage: –NickServ– Your nick isn’t registred but I’m registed it for sure !!
You need to register a name again when on the chatserver. The NICKNAME registered HERE is not on the same server as the chat, so u need to register again.
Once in your room type /nickserv REGISTER password email
then once you are registered type /nickserv IDENTIFY
I think this is very expensive and nobody’s gonna give money out for this…
Change it dave..
I do not think that is expernsive at all. When you to register or even own your very own channel it is much more. Dave has put so much money into this place, his life savings and his life. It sure will take awhile to make back all of the money that he has used.
He is lucky that he has a caring family who is ok with him putting all of this money into Chattersonline when he could be using it around the house to rebuilt and such.
Be lucky about what he is offering and look around at other places and see those prices.
Thank you Dave for great service and all of the hard work you put into here.
$15 a year for 20 people is less then a dollor per person per year. Not bad at all. Also without any of those annoying popups and banners. Not bad at all.
